KOTINOS Olive Oil competition introduces the panel on their Sensory Evaluation Committee!

The Scientific Association of Olive Oil Enthusiasts, "FILAIOS", and the organizing committee of the olive oil competition for branded extra virgin olive oil, KOTINOS 2019, are pleased to announce the results of this year's competition. It was held on 4&5 March 2019 in Athens at SEVITEL - an organoleptic evaluation laboratory accredited by the National Accreditation Board and the International Olive Council.

The Sensory Evaluation Committee at KOTINOS 2019 was made up of:

Efi Christopoulou (Head of the panel for KOTINOS 2019) - EU and International Olive Council chemistry expert, head of SEVITEL - an organoleptic evaluation laboratory accredited by the National Accreditation Board and the International Olive Council, International Olive Council Instructor, experienced panel judge at national and international competitions, head of the panel at national competitions.

Eleni Barmpopoulou - Agronomist, head of the accredited Institute of Olive Tree, Subtropical Plants and Viticulture in Crete, experienced panel judge at national and international competitions.

Alexandros Vithoulkas - Rural Surveying Engineer, Lecturer in Applied Sciences at the Peloponnese Technical University, member of the Peloponnese Technical University Organoleptic Laboratory (accredited by the National Accreditation Board and recognised by the International Olive Council).

Vasilis Kamysis - Chemist, experienced panel judge at national and international competitions.

Takis Dimitrakopoulos - member of the sensory evaluation team at SEVITEL, experienced panel judge at national and international competitions.

Panagiotis Katsaris - Agricultural Biotechnologist, head of the accredited Institute of Olive Tree, Subtropical Plants and Viticulture in Kalamata, experienced panel judge at national competitions.

Eustratia Kouzoumi - Environmental Scientist, head of the accredited Institute of Olive Tree, Subtropical Plants and Viticulture in Mytilene, experienced panel judge at national competitions.

Eleftheria Germanaki - Agricultural Scientist, head of the accredited sensory evaluation panel AS Rethymnis, experienced panel judge at national and international competitions.

Nikos Polychronopoulos - member of the sensory evaluation team at SEVITEL, Postgraduate Diploma in Organoleptic Assessment of Olive Oil from the University of Jaén (Spain), experienced panel judge at national competitions.

 

We wish to thank all participants at this year's KOTINOS competition and our congratulations to all the winners. The award ceremony will be held on Sunday 17 March 2019 at 10:15 at the FOODEXPO 2019 International Food Fair at the Metropolitan Expo Exhibition Centre located at El. Venizelos Airport.

We are very proud that Kyklopas has been awarded gold for its intensity and quality by this exceptional panel.

We would like to point out that all olive oil samples in all competitions worldwide are blind-tested, meaning that the judges do not know which oils they are evaluating.
