Choosing to shred pruned branches

Pruned branches (and leaves) are shredded and not burnt.

Once the thick branches are removed, the remaining thin branches and leaves are placed on the ground, shredded with an overland shredder and scattered around the olive grove.

This way, the nutrients that the branches and leaves contain, which would otherwise be destroyed by burning, are returned to the ground. Thus, we successfully enrich the humus, the natural organic substance of soil, and also reduce the need for fertilizers (sustainable agriculture).

Last, but not least, by not burning the pruned branches and leaves, we contribute to reducing air pollution.
