Kalamata Olive Oil Taste Τesters tried olive oils of several varieties
The Kalamata Olive Oil Taste Testing Panel taste tested a number of oils of different varieties at the seminars ‘Tasting: Principles and Practice’, held on Sunday April 15 2018 and 'The challenges of organoleptic evaluation of olive oil ' (22 April 2018). Kykplopas Early Harvest extra virgin olive oils was chosen for the Makri olive variety.
The oils that were selected are: Koroneiki (Alpha to Omega), Manaki (Sacrum Donum-Anopaea-Kavalieratos), Makri (Kyklopas), Kolovi (Achaia), Namoutiana (Omphacium Mythocia-Papadopoulos Olive Oil), Megareitiki (Ladolea), Picual (Oro Bailen).
The discussion focussed on the difficulties in categorizing olive oil and all taste testing took place under conventional organoleptic testing conditions.
