The wastewater from the olive mill is received at a daily basis by a biogas plant, processed and turned into electricity.  After a 40-day aerobic fermentation in the digesters biogas for electricity generation. After the electricity generation, the dry residual is again collected, pasteurized, transported back to the estate and reused as organic fertilizer.  We have adopted the principles of “smart agriculture” by installing sensors in our fields to control humidity and other micro-climate parameters that are of crucial importance for the optimization of the trees’ productivity. With this technology and monitoring system surface and groundwater use is optimized. Complementary to the sensors and the main irrigation system, a nozzle injection system (that is equivalent to drip irrigation) is installed on each tree using small amounts of groundwater from boreholes in the field. In total, we have about 10 boreholes for all our estates

- Compost made from pruned branches that return to our olive groves and partially substitute conventional fertilizers instead of the conventional practice of open space burning.

- Fallen olive leaves and compost are used as animal feedstock for both our own animals and other farms in our community. - Wastewater as the main stream coming from the olive mill. 

- Packaging exteriors of our final products that are made of recyclable materials. We cannot control the reuse of these materials as this depends on the consumer; however we have made sure that our materials are recyclable.

- The dry nucleus that stands out from the process is used for fuel. KYKLOPAS Olive Mill is heated with the pits. 

We have installed among our olive groves a Photovoltaic (P/V) park with a generation of 500MWh in 2022 . On the roof of the KYKLOPAS Olive Mill there are P/V panels (additional installation besides the existing park) in the roof with a measured 2022 output of 25MWh to substitute electricity from conventional (fossil) fuels, reduce our CO2 footprint and our electricity costs via the utilization of “net metering” national legislation. In addition, as mentioned above, we use the dry nucleus extracted from the olives during the oiling process as heating material of our facilities.

Our mid-term (10Y) ambitions are:
Establish our name as one of the most known olive oil and related products from “farm to fork” with full and transparent environmental certification at all life-cycle stages.
