Proto Thema Newspaper: Two award-winning products from a family mill just outside Alexandroupolis
An early harvest olive oil and a basil dressing are two award-winning products from a family owned and operated olive mill a few kilometres outside Alexandroupolis. Elegant glass bottles with naturally infused flavoured olive oils is a new trend in recent years among food connoisseurs for both salads and warm dishes. In fact, more and more Greek olive oil production and bottling companies - usually small operations from the countryside - are trying their luck in this emerging taste market.
One of these companies is Kyklopas A.E., a family business that began its course several generations back, and is located near Alexandroupolis (11 km from Alexandroupolis towards Komotini on the national road). The company can truly stand tall as at this year's Great Taste Awards (2018), it won 1 star for its Basil Dressing, one of the 5 flavours of their naturally infused olive oils (Basil, Garlic, Chilli, Orange, Lemon).
