ANDRIANOS: The mandatory submission of Olive Harvest Declarations is postponed to the 2026–2027 olive season
According to a statement by Deputy Minister of Rural Development Mr. Giannis Andrianos, following consultation with Minister Mr. Kostas Tsiaras, the mandatory implementation of Olive Harvest Declarations, established by Ministerial Decision 77979/21-3-2025 (Government Gazette 1749 B), is postponed to the next olive season, starting October 1, 2026.
The requirement to submit harvest declarations stems from EU legislation and national law 5035/2023 (Article 49), aiming to protect the production and commercial chain, prevent unfair practices, and ensure the quality and safety of olive oil.
During the pilot implementation of the measure in several regional units—particularly in areas with significant olive cultivation—technical issues arose concerning the update of the olive cultivation registry. For this reason, the Ministry of Rural Development and Food (ΥΠΑΑΤ) decided to postpone the mandatory submission, with a new ministerial decision to be issued soon.
Despite the postponement, the Ministry urges producers, owners, and tenants of olive groves to contact their local Directorates of Rural Development now, to update their records and be ready for the proper and timely submission of Olive Harvest Declarations starting in October 2026.
