Workshop on the olive tree in the lovely courtyard in the "Stoa of plants" in Komotini!
We were a part of a workshop on the olive tree organized by the renowned agriculturist and olive cultivation specialist, Lazaros Kouroukechagia, which took place at the wonderful courtyard in the "Stoa of plants". The workshop started with Mr. Kouroukeagia speaking about how climate change influences olive trees and the role of ethylene in the natural processes of the tree. He also provided practical advice on what needs to be done after harvesting.
We were delighted and honoured to be invited to share our own knowledge and experience about best practices on the production of good quality extra virgin olive oil, from the field to the olive oil. A taste testing session of extra virgin olive oils of different olive varieties, as well as defective olive oils, followed. The workshop ended with numerous questions and a lively discussions from the many producers who honoured us with their presence.
