Alternative olive grove soil management.
Left: soil cultivation (tillage, harrowing) in a neighbouring olive grove. Right: olive cultivation in Kyklops olive groves where we apply the practice natural farming, that is the non-tillage of soil. In addition, we control the grasses without the use of chemical herbicides when they become competitive (water and nutrients) in terms of pre-flowering cultivation.
The natural structure of the soil and the surface root system of the olive trees are not disturbed.
Soil fertility is maintained.
The organic matter is increased and corrosion is prevented, especially in sloping olive groves.
Soil compression is minimized.
