Amidst one of the oldest olive groves in the Mediterranean, in Thrace, Kyklopas produces their olive oil. Olives, of the local Makri variety, yields a light oil, but full of flavour and complex aromas. Argyris and Niki Kellidis took over the family estate in 1982 and since then has not stopped improving production as ‘the difference is in the details’ as is said. Their modern privately owned olive mill has the ability to process the olives without delay, thus ensuring a consistently high quality product.
Kyklopas olive oil has won numerous award in international competitions and 30% of their production is exported. In a blind taste test of the 10 most remarkable Greek olive oils organised by the magazine Gastronomy in collaboration with the Technical University of Peloponnisos’ olive oil tasting laboratory, Kyklopas’ rich flavour, but also benefits without a bitter taste, were particularly noted.
